Hilton Head Oceanfront Hotels and Resorts

Hilton Head Island is well-known for its pristine beaches and magnificent ocean view, so if you’re visiting Hilton Head, you can never go wrong by choosing a house, hotel or resort with an oceanfront view. This will give you easy access to the award-winning beaches of Hilton Head. And the best thing is, most of Hilton Head’s beaches can be publicly accessed, which gives you the liberty to choose the best spot that you want to spend your vacation.

Let us walk you through Hilton Head’s oceanfront hotels and resorts. To start, try imagining yourself walking along the beach as we let you in on our tour.

We will start with Sea Pines Plantation. Although the Sea Pines community is private, if you found an accommodation here, you will have easy access to the beach.

The Sea Pines Resort is the main resort even though there are several smaller timeshare resort options sprinkled throughout Sea Pines. If you have a thing for oceanfront mansions, condos, villas, and home rentals, this place would be ideal.

As you head further into the island along Sea Pines Drive onto South Forest Beach Drive, you will reach the Coligny Beach area located along the North and South Forest Beach. Coligny Beach is one of the most popular (and most crowded) beaches in Hilton Head mainly because of the facilities that it offers, including shopping and restaurants.

Now, if you have a thing for big resorts and you are planning to choose Coligny as your Hilton Head vacation spot, unfortunately, you won’t find that here. What you will find is a wide selection of smaller hotels, motels, rental homes, and timeshares. The main beach oceanfront hotel that you can find here is the Holiday Inn.

Next as we meander past the Coligny area is Shipyard Plantation, which is a gated community. As opposed to the busy Coligny Beach, Shipyard is actually a good location for those who want to have a “quieter” and more laidback environment.

If Shipyard is your chosen place to stay and you’re looking for that resort atmosphere, you will find it at The Sonesta Resort which offers luxurious rooms where you can rest and relax. Other accommodation options for you include home and condo rentals.

As you go along, you will come up to Palmetto Dunes. This is a huge development with your major oceanfront hotels and resorts in Hilton Head, so if you’re looking forward to enjoying the luxurious ambiance of big resorts, this is the place to be.

You can also find the Disney Beach House here (Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is located in Shelter Cove.)

If you are the type of person who prefers a more homey and cozy atmosphere, you can also find oceanfront homes and villas scattered all around Palmetto Dunes.

And now we move on to a long stretch after the Palmetto Dunes area where you will find lots of public beaches. This is where you can find Fish Haul Creek Beach, Burke’s Beach, Folly Field Beach, Islanders Beach, Mitchellville Beach, and Driessen Beach.

Accommodations around these areas include condos and house rentals, so you will easily find something that will fit your budget.

At the end of the public beaches, is the Port Royal Plantation which has the quietest beaches on Hilton Head. So if you’re looking for a good oceanfront view, this is probably the best place be. Port Royal has around 3 miles of beaches extending from the Atlantic to the Port Royal Sound.

Home rentals and condos are very rare around this area. What you can find here though is the award-winning Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa, which is a popular location for conferences, families and destination weddings.

Now that you have a glimpse of where the oceanfront Hilton Head hotels and resorts are located, feel free to decide which one is the best fit for your vacation. Whatever and wherever you end up choosing, we’re sure that you will have an excellent time. We hope you will enjoy your stay on our lovely Hilton Head Island!
